Sitting Room Round Table: Creative Writing Workshop (FREE)
During this in-person creative workshop (or playshop) we will use books, art, and ephemera from The Sitting Room surroundings to prompt our writing. We’ll play with forms, such as erasure poetry and bibliomancy, as we explore the library and write expressively. Participants will have time to share writing aloud (always optional).
Rather than critique just-written work, the group’s attentive listening and affirmative feedback will guide our practice.

Lit Crawl Sebastopol: Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 2–6 PM
Lit Crawl Sebastopol features 200+ poets and writers, drawing nearly 1,000 revelers to "crawl" through downtown to listen to readings from Sonoma County’s spirited and diverse literary community. I’m joining a group of local writers from The Sitting Room—a community library and reading room of women’s literature, art, and archives. See the schedule of events and our listing with author bios!
Lit Crawl Sebastopol is a project of SebArts and The Litquake Foundation.
Each Session is offered as part of February’s month-long event, Write Around the World
Write Around the World is an annual fundraiser to support the social justice programs offered by Amherst Writers & Artists (AWA), which invites beginner, emerging, and experienced writers into creative workshop spaces using the AWA Method. View the AWA calendar for individual writing sessions offered throughout the month of February! Sliding scale from $14–40.

Prompted by Literary Publications
Writing As Spiritual Practice (on Super Bowl Sunday)
LGBTQ+ Community Valentines Day: Practicing “S(h)elf-Love”
President’s Day: Finding consolation in poetic expression
President’s Day: Finding consolation in poetic expression
War. Climate crisis. Another Trump administration. Rather than commiserate, let’s find consolation in poetic expression. We’ll spend this President’s Day writing, prompted by poems and other forms from literary luminaries like Toni Morrison, Dorianne Laux, Nikki Giovani, and Ellen Bass.
LGBTQ+ Community Valentines Day: Practicing “S(h)elf-Love”
Let’s gather with fellow queer/genderqueer folx to celebrate Valentine’s Day by practicing self-love — from the bookshelf. We’ll express ourselves on the page, prompted by writers like Jonathan Van Ness, Alison Bechdel, and Janet Mock.
Writing As Spiritual Practice (on Super Bowl Sunday)
Whether or not you catch the game, let’s spend the morning writing in contemplation. Taking inspiration from AWA founder Pat Schneider’s book, How the Light Gets In: Writing as Spiritual Practice, we’ll draw upon wise words from several traditions.

Prompted by Literary Publications: Using submission calls to spark writing
We’ll write to prompts provided by literary journals seeking new pieces. You're introduced to several literary outlets, either as a possible home for your work or simply for your reading pleasure — whether or not you choose to submit any poetry or prose for consideration.
